Direct Lending Associate

The corporate private equity division of a global elite boutique financial services firm, whose investment banking practice has been a steady client of SLA for many years.

Scope:

The firm sought an associate-level investment professional to join their New York-based direct lending team.

While the ideal candidates for the role would have prior direct lending experience on the buy-side, our client was open to meeting candidates from tangential backgrounds provided there was consistency in high-caliber technical modeling skills.

SLA’s Approach:

The SLA team screened candidates from direct lending backgrounds on both the buy-side and the sell-side, as well as credit associates with investment management experience.

By maintaining a holistic view of the market and prioritizing skill-set amongst a diverse pool of candidates, SLA presented the strongest individuals from all backgrounds to our client for interview processes.

Result:

Out of 50+ candidates screened, five progressed to case study interviews, with three advancing to final rounds.

One candidate – with direct lending experience from an investment platform – stood out among the rest, with a fifty-day turnaround from introduction to offer signing.
